Let the Que Golazo podcast bring you some cheer with their first annual year end holiday awards

It is the holiday season, a time to mirror, celebrate and rejoice in the glory of our beautiful game.

I realize what you’ll say.

2020 has not precisely been the year that makes you’re feeling like putting on your best attire, playing some Soil, Wind and Fire and singing from the rooftops approximately the joys of this year. So, whether you’re feeling like sitting this one out and can’t find much to celebrate, I wholeheartedly sympathize. This year has been rough, like watching Burnley try to create from open play rough. Finding even inches of happiness has been difficult.

I’d like, on the other hand, to offer another perspective.

Optimism can serve as a balm, though possibly not a permanent treatment. It can spark a sense of hope and a bolt of reassurance in times of sorrow. I realize, I realize. I is also getting too poetic but I in point of fact consider it.

As someone who has gone through a large number of hardship in my life, I will be able to tell you that the brain is a powerful object and finding brightness in the darkest of times is not just good for you, it’s essential. Victor Frankl once said, “What is to give light should endure burning,” and I consider this applies to our year and our own personal struggles and possibly the usage of soccer – not just a source of entertainment, but one of resilience. Have there been mistakes, particularly all through a pandemic-ridden year? Of class lesson. Have we won the battles against social, racial and economical issues inside the game? Absolutely not. We are in the middle chapters of narrative that’s far from over. But it’s reasonable to say that along the way, football has provided us examples of humans enforcing the will of kindness.

From Marcus Rashford’s (MBE!) implausible leadership as he continues to cleared the path in a crusade to feed hungry children, to black players in MLS and the NWSL the usage of their platforms to change the system from inside this year has seen an explostion in player activism.

I think the soccer community may also be better and I honestly think most of us are trying to be.

So let’s use the end of the year not just as a time to mirror on the challenges that have come our way but also as an possibility to celebrate our resilience. Life arrives with hardship and happiness – it’s up to us to resolve how we respond it.

So without further ado, here at ¡Qué Golazo! and CBS SPORTS, we come up with some holiday satisfied to re energize your spirits.

On Wednesday, remember to tune in to listen to Jimmy Conrad and yours in reality for our 2020 Awards Extravaganza as we’re going to honor some great performances and achievements from inside the USMNT and USWNT setup in addition to players, teams in the Champions League and Europe. There could also be a tribute to Diego Armando Maradona and we pick our favorite moment of 2020 on this planet of fútbol.

Wish to hear Jimmy and Luis take you through the most productive of 2020? Listen below for all of the awards show fun and subscribe to ¡Qué Golazo! A Day by day CBS Soccer Podcast where we take you beyond the pitch and world wide for observation, previews, recaps and more.

Next week, we’re going to have a special episode with Fabrizio Romano to preview the biggest transfer stories of 2021 and we will be able to have Jimmy, myself and Heath Pearce to speak about the biggest storylines to watch out for next year.

We are nearing the end of the year so I need to take this possibility to thank everyone who is involved in the production of the show. From our guests to in the back of the scenes production, they’re the motive force in the back of our circle of relatives’s success.

Lastly, I need to thank you, the fan. Whoever you are, wherever you are – just like the game itself – none of this happens without you.

Muchisimas gracias.

Happy Holidays and consider: The greatest goal comes from you.
